End of new applications for the NHR regime as of 2024

The Portuguese Prime Minister announced yesterday evening the Government will propose the end of the Non-Habitual Residents' regime as of 1 January 2024.

At this stage, this proposal will have to be included in the Proposal for the 2024 State Budget Law which will enter Parliament on 10th of October. 

The proposal will, subsequently, be discussed and, if approved, it will come into force on 1 January 2024. 

According to the information made available yesterday, those who already benefit from the regime may keep it, but no new applications may be accepted as of 2024 onwards.
