MLA - menezes, leite & associados, Sociedade de Advogados, RL (MLA), founded in 2012, has its origins in the law firm Mário Jorge Menezes Advogados, which began operating in Cape Verde in 2006. Founded at a time of marked growth in the Cape Verdean economy, in which there was a notable increase in the level of demand, the firm assumed a specialised profile from the outset, concentrating on certain branches of law and areas of legal practice in order to be able to respond adequately to market demands.

In recent years, MLA has focused in particular on the following areas: Business Law (Civil, Commercial, Labour and Tax), Public Procurement, in the formation and management phases of contracts (Public Works Contracts, Concessions and Acquisitions of Goods and Services), Real Estate Law, Financial Law, Spatial Planning and Urban Planning Law, Regulatory Law (Professional Bodies), Civil Service Law, Constitutional Law and Litigation (Judicial, Common and Arbitration). Within the framework of these areas, MLA has provided legal advice to various public and private clients on different matters and projects of significant value and complexity.

On the other hand, MLA has evolved to deepen and consolidate its corporate structure and the organisation that supports the practice of law by its partners and associates, progressively increasing its size and response capacity.

In 2024, MLA signed a Partnership Agreement with SÉRVULO, becoming part of SÉRVULO LATITUDE?, which represents, in the first instance, a privileged opportunity to share knowledge with leading law firms of recognised competence based in Portuguese-speaking countries and locations, but also a strengthening of the firm's response capacity and versatility, which can thus provide specialised services in association and coordination with these firms.
