Universidade Católica celebrates signing of protocol with law firms

NEWS AND EVENTS 13 Jul 2010

The Faculties of Law and of Economics and Business (Ciências Económicas e Empresariais) of the Universidade Católica, celebrate the signing of a protocol with two law firms: SÉRVULO and Abreu Advogados. The celebration will take place on 15 July at 5pm at the Universidade Católica. With this protocol the law firms commit themselves to each granting a scholarship to a student, who is of Angolan nationality and a member of the Bar in Angola, to complete the Master in Law and Management at the Universidade Católica.

The candidates will be chosen by the course’s coordination team, and the scholarship grantees will be selected with the law firms’ approval.

The scholarships will be valid for a period of 10 months, with the possibility of extension for another 3 months in the event of the students choosing to stay in Portugal during the thesis-preparation period. In return the students must complement the course attendance with a supervised legal traineeship at their sponsoring law firm, one afternoon a week. In addition to this, the students should be available to work at their sponsoring law firm for a maximum period of 12 months, following the completion of the course. The students will be remunerated in line with other associated lawyers with similar experience and CVs at the firms in question.

Following the completion of the course, the students must return to Angola for a minimum period of 12 months from the return date.

This agreement enters into force in the academic year 2010-2011, to be automatically renewed every year.
