The Law of the Sea and the Simplex Urbanístico up for debate in the Azores

The Law of the Sea and the Simplex Urbanístico are the topics under discussion at a conference to be held on May 16 in São Miguel, Azores. The event takes place as part of the signing of the partnership agreement between Sérvulo & Associados and Borges da Ponte, Linhares Dias & Associados. 

 

“The Relevance of the Law of the Sea for the Azores” is the theme of the panel that opens the conference, which will take place at the Teatro Micaelense, and which will feature José Manuel Sérvulo Correia, Jubilate Full Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon and founding partner of Sérvulo & Associados, Rui Medeiros, Full Professor at the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University and Partner in the Public Law area of Sérvulo & Associados, and Paulo Linhares Dias (moderator), Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra and Partner in the Public Law area of BPLD&A. 

In a second panel, João Fortunato Sousa, Founding Partner of Fortunato & Pimentel da Costa Advogados, Eduardo Gonçalves Rodrigues, Partner of Sérvulo & Associados, and Artur Gomes da Costa (moderator), Chairman of the Board of Norma Açores, will discuss the risks and virtues of the Simplex urbanístico. 

The conference will be opened by the Regional Secretary for the Sea and Fisheries, Mário Pinho. The closing speech will be given by the President of the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, Luís Garcia. 

 

The event will also be marked by the signing of a partnership agreement between Sérvulo & Associados and Borges da Ponte, Linhares Dias & Associados, which will become part of SÉRVULO LATITUDE?, a network of bilateral partnerships it has established with leading law firms in strategic jurisdictions.
