Sérvulo strengthens its Intellectual Property and Information Technology team

Acknowledging that the world’s economy is dependant on industries that rely on innovation and protection of IP and IT rights, SÉRVULO invited Patricia Akester to act as of counsel with the firm and thus reinforce this area of practice.
With this highly respected Cambridge University Academic on board, SÉRVULO has strengthened its ability to act in the national, European and international arenas, in the area of intellectual property and information technology law.
Patrícia Akester is an Intellectual Property Law expert who graduated in law and post-graduated in European Union Law at the Catholic University of Lisbon and read for an L.LM. in Intellectual Property Law at University College of London. In 2002 ,Patricia completed a Ph.D. in International Copyright Law and the Challenges of Digital Technology at the Queen Mary Intellectual Property Research Institute, Queen Mary University of London. She joined the Portuguese Bar Association in 1996 and became a Registered European Lawyer with the Bar Association of England and Wales, Lincolns Inn, in 2009. She is a member of the Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Law Faculty of Law, Cambridge University, where she has researched and taught since 2002. She has published extensively in the field of intellectual property and has consulted for high technology companies, copyright collective management entities, London based law firms and international organizations, such as UNESCO.
