NEWS AND EVENTS 14 Feb 2014
Similarly to what happened last year with the Post-Graduation Course in Waste Law, and in 2012 with the 1st edition of the Post-Graduation Course in Water Law, SÉRVULO has joined forces with the Institute for Legal and Political Studies (ICJP - Instituto de Ciências Jurídico-Políticas) of the Law Faculty of the University of Lisbon by sponsoring the 2nd edition of the Post-Graduation Course in Water Law.
Mark Kirkby and Ana Luisa Guimarães, respectively partner and associate of SÉRVULO’s Public Law department, are two of the studies coordinators of the course, and will be lecturing on two of the seminars. The course also boasts Rui Medeiros and Jorge Silva Sampaio, also respectively partner and associate of SÉRVULO’s Public Law department, amongst its faculty.
The course programme presents several themes related to Water Law, including management models for water utilities, the importance of EU sources and regulations for the protection of water resources from environmental and planning perspectives, public-private partnerships in the governance of public water utilities, and the specificities arising from the regulation of water utilities. The course offers a legal perspective, but also an economic and financial one, of the sector, and it anwers the training needs of all those professionals dedicated to this field, both in the public and private sector.
The Post-Graduation Course in Water Law starts on April 2, and on March 28 the opening conference on "The human right to water under the UN goals of sustainable development post-2015" will take place.
