Sérvulo seminar examines the impact on TV licensing rights of the ECJ decision in the Karen Murphy case

NEWS AND EVENTS 24 Jan 2012

On January 24 SÉRVULO promotes a seminar dedicated to analysing the impact that the decision of the European Court of Justice will have on territorial restrictions to using foreign decoders (Premier League vs. Karen Murphy).

The ECJ decision puts into question the imposition of frontier barriers on TV broadcasting licensing rights, and it could revolutionise the way said rights are negotiated (the effects of this decision are being compared to the Bosman ruling of 1995).

The seminar, which is exclusively for entities which deal with TV rights, is led by Heijo Ruijsenaars, who is Director of Intellectual Property at the European Broadcasting Union, one of the most influential bodies in the field of sports licensing rights in the EU.
