Sérvulo partner appointed to Shenzhen arbitrators panel

SÉRVULO IN THE PRESS 24 Feb 2025 in Iberian Lawyer

João Saúde, partner in the litigation and arbitration department at Sérvulo & Associados, has been appointed to the Panel of Arbitrators of the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) and as a recommended arbitrator by the South China International Arbitration Center in Hong Kong (SCIAHK). His expertise and experience were recognized by the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration, which led to this appointment.

With over 25 years of experience in dispute resolution, João Saúde serves as Sérvulo’s key contact for China and Cathay Associates. “It is a privilege to join the panel of arbitrators at the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration, which currently represents 129 countries and regions, and to be available to conduct international arbitration proceedings, particularly in Portuguese,” he stated.

Founded in 1983, SCIA was the first arbitration institution in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau region. It reflects China’s growing role in international trade, the development of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone (SEZ), and the cooperation between Mainland China, the Hong Kong SAR, and the Macau SAR. In 1984, SCIA pioneered the inclusion of foreign arbitrators in its panel. In 2021, SCIA added “GBA International Arbitration Center” as one of its official names to further strengthen cooperation with the Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR, aiming to become one of the world’s leading international arbitration centers.
