NEWS AND EVENTS 26 May 2023

Paulo Câmara, Partner at SÉRVULO, was elected Personality of the Year at the 2023 Best Funds Awards, presented by the Portuguese Association of Investment Funds, Pensions, and Assets (APFIPP).

The award was jointly presented this Thursday to three personalities: Jorge Bravo (Nova IMS Lisbon University), Miguel Leónidas Rocha (Deloitte), and Paulo Câmara (Sérvulo & Associados). As highlighted by APFIPP President João Pratas, "in this edition, not only the contribution made in 2022 was taken into account, but also the entire history of collaboration with APFIPP, as well as the support always provided to its Associates and to the Asset Management and Pension Funds market, by the three distinguished Personalities."

"It is a great honor and a tremendous privilege for me to have received this important award, which I consider equally directed at the excellent team of Sérvulo & Associados. The fact that it is awarded by APFIPP - an association with a very high degree of professionalism, seriousness, and impact on the financial system - makes this distinction even more special," highlights Paulo Câmara.

As a Partner in the Financial & Governance department at SÉRVULO and a Professor at the Portuguese Catholic University, Paulo Câmara is the author of more than 80 books and articles published in financial law, corporate governance, capital market law, and banking. He is the President of the General Assembly of the Portuguese Banking Association, the Portuguese Observatory of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs, and other financial institutions. He is a member of the Editorial Committee of the Journal of Financial Law and Capital Market, a member of the Scientific Committee of the Competition & Regulation Journal, and a member of the Monitoring and Oversight Committee of the Code of the Portuguese Institute of Corporate Governance. He was also the Director of the International and Regulatory Policy Department and the Issuers Department of the Portuguese Securities Market Commission from 1998 to 2008. He served as a member of the Euro Commission between 1996 and 1998 and the Working Group for the drafting of the Securities Code between 1997 and 1999.
