In this article, the authors explore Portugal's insolvency and restructuring landscape, guided by the Insolvency and Restructuring Code (CIRE). Key procedures include insolvency and recovery proceedings, as well as extra-judicial recovery proceedings, both designed to assist businesses in distress. Emphasis is placed on out-of-court negotiations and pre-packaged solutions to expedite recovery, with a focus on ensuring business continuity. The guide also covers the priority of creditors and the responsibilities of directors.
